Internships
Internships with Gateway DSA can provide professional skill building in special event management and fundraising, program management, and communications, all while working in the disability services field. Internship positions are typically on a semester long basis and available to students of all academic levels, colleges, universities, majors, and disciplines.
Internship positions are unpaid, however, GDSA will assist students with earning academic credit for their work. Schedule is flexible and based on student availability. A great candidate will have a positive attitude, be a team player, and be enthusiastic about learning and trying new things.
Communications Intern
The Communication Intern assists with public relations, social media, video marketing, and print marketing, all while using GDSA branding standards. Interns will also gain experience in a non-profit setting and have direct interaction with individuals with Down syndrome.

Programs & Services Intern
The Programs Intern position assists the Programs team and the Family Support team on various projects and task that support the GDSA mission. Interns gain experience in program planning, scheduling, preparation, and implementation. Students will have direct interaction and communication with families, as well as work directly with individuals with Down syndrome participating in programs. In addition, students gain experience in a non-profit setting.

Development & Events Intern
The Development & Events intern works with the Director of Special Events on coordinating fundraising events for the organization. This includes soliciting in-kind donations, coordinating auction details, reaching out to businesses and community members, and creating thank you and follow up documents.
An ideal candidate is out-going, friendly, and organized!

Additional Internship Information
It’s important to everyone at GDSA that interns gain experience and insight into their field of interest, as well as learn tangible skills they can take with them as they pursue further education or employment. Each internship is different because each students’ skills and interests are different.
